Rugged Embedded PCs
Rugged embedded PCs are built for commercial and industrial use. Common features on these systems are metal extrusions, wide operating temperatures, fanless operation and built-in I/O. These embedded devices can be configured with a solid state drive for high reliability, memory size options and many systems offer a choice of CPU.
Industrial Embedded Computers - Further Information
Embedded computers for industrial applications are normally fanless. This is because fans suck in air to cool the CPU. In industrial environments there is often dust in the air which can then be sucked into the computer and damage components, most likely the fan itself. Industrial embedded computers therefore use heatsink chassis' to cool the processor, thus protecting the components of the system within.
