The L-8000 DIO modules is a set of intelligent sensor to computer interface modules containing built-in microprocessor. They provide data comparison and digital communication functions. Some modules provide digital I/O lines for controlling relays and TTL devices.

The L-8000 series are fully compatible to Advantech ADAM-4000 series, ADlin NμDAM-6000 series and ICP I-7000 series.L modules can connect to and communicate with all computers and terminals.  They use RS-485 transmission standards, and communicate with ASCII format protocol(default) or Modbus-RTU protocol(for firmware version D02.01 and later), which means that L modules can be programmed in virtually any high-level language.

Up to 256 L modules may be connected to an RS-485 multi-drop network by using the L RS-485 repeater, extending the maximum communication distance to 4,000 ft.
