DFI have recently announced the launch of the EC70A-SU, utilisizing the i7/i5/i3 U-series Intel 6th Gen Skylake Core processors. The EC70A-SU is the world’s smallest and lightest embedded box PC delivering only 15 watts TDP and measuring only 181mm x 118mm x 57mm.
Latest IPC Technology
The new Skylake chips use the BGA 1440 form factor and are soldered down instead of socketed which indicates Intel’s dedication to more highly integrated all-in-one systems. The new i3/i5/i7 trio support DDR4 and also have the new Intel Iris Pro Graphics 580 GPU with a redesigned 128MB eDRAM cache making the GPU considerably faster. Still available to accompany the EC70A-SU is the EC700-BT. This is a middle-ground embedded computer based around the Intel Atom E3800 processor. This IPC shares with it's more powerful sister a small form factor, considerable I/O capabilities, highly reliable functionality and an extended operating temperature. WiFi and 3G/GPRS is provided via Mini PCIe slots, additionally there is 1 SIM card slot and 3 WiFi antenna holes making the EC700-BT a good fit for wireless applications. It is also Microsoft Azure Certified if you’re considering a move to the cloud.
