Assuring Efficient Production In Food Production

Takt time is derived from the German word Taktzeit which translates to cycle time, setting the pace for manufacturing lines. The pace of production flow is set based on a cycle, or takt time, for each operation. Product flow is expected to fall within a pace that is less than or equal to the takt time, matching the pace of production with customer demand.

Born in larger industrial plants, such as the automotive industry, this concept is now being successfully implemented by other industries. Assured Systems is pleased to present another real world application where our technology was used to assist in improving efficiency on production lines.

A leading food company producing a range of specially hand crafted potted olives, sun dried tomatoes and other anti-pasti products for leading retailers including Waitrose and Sainsburys, wanted to improve the efficiency of their production lines, reducing cost and improving profitability. After a quick search online, they contacted Assured Systems and the brief was quite straight forward. Supply large, stainless steel IP65 panel mount LCD displays, to be mounted into apertures at the end of each production line to display information to operatives. The data allows them to see their performance, efficiency and whether they’re ahead or behind their takt time.

The Solution selected, was a 32″ IP65 Panel Mount Monitor from our Stainless Steel LCD range. The ISPM3205 is a 32″ Widescreen IP65 rated industrial front panel mount monitor with a stainless steel bezel, designed to meet IP65 standards, offering protection against water and dust ingress once sealed into an aperture.

This product is ideal in food, pharmaceutical and other applications where a non-corrosive steel alloy is required for health and safety purposes. The IP65 bezel allows the displays to be washed down periodically, whenever a deep cleaning exercise takes place in the plant. The product is also available with optional sunlight readable LCD, a variety of touchscreens and numerous video inputs depending on requirements.
